š Radio-Coteau La Neblina Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast 2020
Here is the āGrand Fromageāof the estate. If you were the owner and you wanted a grown up Pinot that sat above all others like the sword chair in game of thrones then this is the one. Eric Sussman (owner) had the good fortune/ timing/luck to pick before the wildfires of 2020-ended up with ā¦.. 1 no smoke taint 2. Youāve got all your grapes.
This wines ended up perfumed, had minerality and were complex - a perfect concoction
Palate: There's crunchy red berry fruit red cherries and a beguiling softness. You would probably expect that from a Pinot from this region but you also have delicate rose petals and leather - big and earthy and soft and delicate. I guess itās what makes this so interesting. If I were to bet on this I would say Eric is trying a gentle nod to the Burgundian wines of Europe.
If you want a Sonoma coast Pinot then this is the one. Interlinked fruit, spice, and earthy notes
Fresh raspberry, ripe strawberry, black cherry, vanilla, cinnamon spice notes and candied violets. A woody earthiness with elegant tannins. āLa neblina ā is Spanish and allows the cooling of the coastal vineyards
La Neblina rolls in from the Pacific Ocean to cool the coastal Pinot Noir vineyards of western Sonoma County. Luscious core of black cherry fruit with a twist of citrus on the lip-smacking finish.
So if your trying to find your grape and your trying to find a Pinot that isnāt old world and isnāt full of Sour cherries then you just may have found that wine that grape that you can reference from.
I would almost say this is a bucket list Pinot that is worthy in anyoneās cellar.
