Williams Selyem Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016/2017
Williams Selyem Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016/2017
The 2020 growing season started out very dry encouraging early bud break (the most important part of the growing experience – without buds you don’t have flowers, and you don’t have fruit). Cold weather delayed this somewhat. Needless to say, the season was “start stop all year” & very challenging. Result was loose clusters of grapes on the vines and good exposure of the fruit to allow colours and tannins to develop.
A random lightning strike during the later part of the growing season started a fire near the vineyards. Luckily there was no smoke taint, but not all vines were picked. What you have is concentrated wines with a darker complexity. Allow for a drinking window till 2030
